2nd January 2007 - *updated 9th January*

Happy New Year! It is with great pleasure that I'm now able to provide you with a majority of the photos taken from this year's festival. I had hoped to upload them earlier but due to illness over Christmas the task had been delayed. The photos can be found here (gallery 1) and here (gallery 2). These are only temporary galleries. Still to come are a few of the set-up photos. Please also read Andrew Binns' New Year message below.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2008.

"With the start of a new year I feel that I must take an opportunity to update the website with the outcome of our hugely successful 2007 Festival of Christmas Trees.

The total of funds raised at the Festival was £2,382 all of which has been donated to Lindsey Lodge Hospice. The members of the Rotary Club are delighted with this outcome and I hope that all of those involved in making such a success are pleased too.

In addition to the funds raised at the Festival, and to mark The Rotary Club of Scunthorpe’s 80th birthday this year, we have decided to donate a further £500 to Lindsey Lodge.

My thanks, and that of the Festival organisers, go to all who contributed, particularly the Minister, stewards and members of Old Brumby United Church, our hosts, who continue to make us so welcome. Thanks also to the representatives of all the various organisations that contributed and decorated trees. Fifty six very different trees in one venue doesn’t come about easily and the variety of design is a tribute to all who took part.

The musical events were wonderful and, again, our thanks go to all the choirs and groups who so generously contributed their time and talents. The evening concert featuring North Lincs. Community Band was enjoyed by all who attended and raised a significant sum towards the total mentioned above.

We intend to arrange another Festival of Christmas Trees in 2008 with the expected dates being the weekends of 6th / 7th and 13th / 14th December. If you have not been involved in the Festival previously but would like to do so this year then please contact the organiser, George Jefferson on gs_jefferson@hotmail.com"
